The goal is elementary. Destroy all of the bricks in each charge to move to the next charge. Acky's XP Breakout is quite different than most games in the baseball and paddle genre, instead of having a rigid number of balls, you hold two resources which are needed to create a baseball, and this resource is called ether. Ether comes in two colors crimson and depressing, both of which are needed to mould a baseball. While playing you will view each kindly of ether drop and if you catch it with your space pad your ether tanks will fulfill up, allowing you to create more balls.

The plot also features several bonuses for doing different things. Gaining bonuses is optional but you are encouraged to do so because they are needed to unlock XP modality, a special modality where you beat super powers. After you terminated a charge you beat a bronze, eloquent, or golden trophy. There is also a ranking system which is based on how many trophies you hold collected and how many bonuses you hold obtained. While you meet statistics are saved for each charge which potty be logged online so you potty view your performance as compared to other players.
